Want to put on a show? We’d love to talk. We host a wide variety of musicians, as well as artists working in many other media. If you’re doing something that you’d like to bring to the public, this may be the place to do it.

If you’d like to put on a show here, send us an email (info@ThePubicOptionDC.com) with a few links to work you’ve done. We will get back to you with details on how we work. If you like what you see, we’ll send you a (simple) agreement to e-sign and lock in a date. Although we normally book performances on Fridays and Saturdays, we’re open to other days if we are able to staff them. Our Events page will give you an idea of what dates we’re already booked. (Some events that are not finalized may not yet appear.)

We supply a PA, sound board, a DI box, 3 mic’s with xlr cables and stands. You can see pictures of the equipment here. The pictures aren’t great. But you should be able to see the model numbers, etc. We leave control of the board to you - we don’t provide a sound engineer. And we don’t provide equipment other than what’s listed. For example, we don’t have a drum kit or stage monitors.

The capacity of our performance space is 80 people, including performers. We handle ticket sales the night of the performance, and we don’t have a “door person.” We clearly indicate through signage that a show is ticketed, and we encourage performers to mention that a show is ticketed before a set. Given the size of our venue, and the character of the crowd we normally draw, we don’t have much trouble with ticket scammers.

We ask that performers provide a brief description of the show and a flier that we can use on our events page and social media. We will make every effort to promote your show. But ultimately, performers have the primary responsibility for promotion.
